Rita Stynes Strow was born and educated in Ireland and
England. She attended Dublin College of Art and the University of
Ireland where she received her BA and Fine Arts Diplomas. She has also
done post graduate work at London University.
Before settling in the United States, Ms. Stynes Strow spent many
years in Pakistan and the Philippines. In recent years she has been
teaching art to different age groups. At her home studio she works with
adults who wish to develop artistic skills and techniques in various
media.
Ms. Stynes Strow prefers to work in oils and watercolors. She enjoys
oils, especially for portraits and for her series of Celtic Icons and
Mythological works. She turns to watercolors when she wishes to capture
a scene where the lighting conditions change so rapidly that she must
work quickly. But, for imaginative work she finds the intensity
and physicality of oils
most satisfying.
Rita Stynes Strow has exhibited in solo and group shows in
Massachusetts, Illinois, and New York. Her work has also been exhibited
in colleges in New Hampshire and New Jersey. In addition, she has
exhibited in Pakistan and in the Philippines. Her work can be found in
private collections in the US and in Ireland.
