Queen Maeve: Oil on canvas: 40" x 30" or 101 cm x
76 cm
Maeve, prechristian warrior Queen of
Connacht, West Ireland
was noted for her beauty and waywardness. She waged war on Ulster
to win the famous brown bull of Cooley. The story of this cattle
raid is the subject matter of Ireland's great epic poem, the
Táin.
