The Return of Oisin. Oil on canvas. 30" x 40" or 76 cm x 101 cm

Oisin, the poet of the Fianna, returns home from Tir na nOg (land of perpetual youth) to see his family once again. But, 300 years had elapsed since he was whisked away by a fairy woman to Tir na nOg. Homesick for Ireland he was released for a visit provided he never touched the ground. However, he went to aid some men trying to move a boulder and touched the ground. Immediately, the spell was broken; Oisin became an old man, Patrick and his monks had come to Ireland and they met Oisin and listened to his tales of the Fiannan times.
